Values
At the core of our faith is a profound belief in the Holy Trinity—God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit—central to our church’s existence. Guided by the teachings of Jesus, we prioritize love for one another. Our worship encompasses prayer, music, sacraments, and various forms of reverence. Rooted in Malankara Mar Thoma traditions, we navigate our spiritual journey with continuity. Compassion is integral as we actively extend empathy and understanding, working to alleviate pain. Fostering community, we create a space of belonging, support, and fellowship within our church and the broader society, reflecting the interconnected nature of our shared faith.
Welcome to Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church, London, Ontario!
Established on October 1, 2023, by the Episcopal Synod's decision on September 4 & 5, 2023,Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church London proudly stands as a beacon of faith and community. With 34 member families enrolled, our parish brings together families from London, Komoka, St. Thomas, Stratford, Woodstock, and Chatham. Initially, London and its surrounding areas were part of St. Mathew’s Mar Thoma Church in Milton. Despite having only a few members in early 2001, we actively participated in church activities, conducting Holy Communion services and hosting home prayer meetings. The respective Vicars at St. Mathews Mar Thoma Church Milton graciously offered us Holy Communion and assistance during prayer services, supporting the London prayer group in their tenure (2017 - 2020). During the challenging times of the Covid Pandemic, London Area residents played an active role in the "Prayer Line" organized by the Parish.
In 2021, the arrival of Rev. Sunil Chacko and his family marked a turning point. Recognizing the challenges faced by London area members in regularly traveling to St. Mathew's Church, Rev. Sunil Chacko initiated monthly Holy Communion services in London on Sunday evenings. The first service took place on December 19, 2021, at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church. Despite some disruptions due to the Covid Pandemic, the monthly Holy Communion services continued. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Sunil Chacko for his dedication and leadership in ensuring the spiritual well-being of our community. Our growth continued, and in 2023, with 34 families, we realized the need to establish a separate Parish to better serve the spiritual needs of the Mar Thoma Community in the London area. After receiving permission from the Diocese, we proudly became "JERUSALEM MAR THOMA CHURCH, LONDON, CANADA," with Rev. Reji Issac serving as the first Vicar.
The members of Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church London extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Most. Rev. Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma, and Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa, the Diocesan Bishop of North America and Europe for granting us the status of a parish.
We look forward to the journey ahead as we build a vibrant community centered on faith, fellowship, and spiritual growth. Together, let's build a future filled with faith, growth, and community strength!
